Soil contaminated with radionuclides poses a long-term radiation hazard to human health through exposure via the food-chain and other pathways. For these reasons, phytoremediation of radionuclide-contaminated soils has become increasingly important.

Půda kontaminovaná radionuklidy představuje dlouhodobé ohrožení zdraví obyvatel především možnou kontaminací potravního řetězce. Z těchto důvodú se odstranění této kontaminace pomocí metod fytoremediace stává velice důležitou oblastí výzkumu.
