AnnotationHuman immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) is the etiological agent of the Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The HIV-1 replication cycle contains several virus-specific events that could be addressed by chemoterapeutic intervention. The cluster boron compounds represented thus a novel class of non-peptide and non-peptidomimetic inhibitors that differ substantially from the previously known organic series.
