AnnotationPhysical properties of chalcogenide glassy systems are strongly influenced by the presence of structural units and chemical bonds and by the presence of one or more glass forming region. The attention in this paper is focused on the preparation of high purity base glasses, their doping with rare earth elements and on their characterization by transmission and photoluminescence spectroscopy and by X-ray analysis.
