AnnotationGrasses spontaneously colonising sedimentation basins can act as important agens in spreading of AM fungi and facilitate mycorrhization of planted trees. Inoculation with AM fungi increases soil aggregation due to binding of particles by extraradical mycelium; disturbance of this network leads to delay of mycorrhizal colonisation of grass seedlings and to decrease of alkaline phosphatase activity in mycelial hyphae. Mycelial transport of 32P between grasses and trees was detected.
