AnnotationPsbI is a small membrane subunit of the Photosystem II complex (PSII). It is a component of the PSII core, the subcore lacking CP43 and the reaction center complex lacking both CP43 and CP47. In the mutant of Synechocystis lacking the psbI gene, the activity of PSII in oxygen evolution is decreased by 30 % and turnover of the D1 protein is significantly accelerated when compared with the wild-type strain
