Both matrix alloys and pure magnesium were tested for reference purposes. All experimental materials were prepared by identical procedure, i.e., by squeeze casting. Compressive creep tests of the composites as well as of the matrix alloys were performed at temperatures 473 and 523 K. The analysis of results yielded various values of the threshold stress. These values were discussed in detail and conclusions concerning the applicability of threshold stress concept in the description of creep behaviour of investigated metal matrix composites were drawn.
