AnnotationCoal seams represent a very brittle material that will lose its load bearing ability and stability under excessive load very quicly and thus they affect negatively the stability of exposed mine roadways. One of the methods of improving such situations is the application of a chemical grouting that will result in formation of a coal geo-composite in the surroudings of the underground roadway. The properties of such a coal geo-composite differ from the ones of the original coal seam. Presented paper discusses the differences between the behaviour of coal geo-composites and the behaviour of pure coal that were observed during mechanical tests in the laboratory.
