20.století bylo (na rozdíl od 19.) na velké povodně – naštěstí pro obyvatele – poměrně chudé. Na Odře se “povodni 20.století“ z července 1997 nejvíce přiblížil případ z července 1903, tedy s odstupem téměř čtyř generací, což nepochybně přispělo ke ztrátě historické paměti. Cílem příspěvku je dokumentovat velké povodně na Odře a v jejím povodí, analogické katastrofě roku 1997, v průběhu 19.století se zaměřením na jejich impakty, které jsou důležité pro dobovou charakteristiku životního prostředí obyvatel.

20th century was as compared with the 19th century (fortunately for inhabitants) relatively poor in great floods. When searching for historical analogies of the flood case od July 199ý, in mapy features resembles a disaster recorded mainly in the Czech section of the Odra river watershed in July 1903. As the event is a hundred years old, its course and consequences have been forgotten. The aim of the paper is to document the great floods during the 19th century and their impacts (which are very important for period environment of inhabitants) too.
