AnnotationThe general problem of landscape perception could be labeled as “validity” and “stability” of the obtained social and aesthetic data. Our study is focused on the stability of landscape perception and on the methodology connected with the problem of aesthetic landscape evaluation. Results from the study area Novohradské Mts are presented. We used “actions”, i.e. supported aesthetic values for each landscape area, as a feedback in the aesthetic evaluation. Also, we used an economic method, contingent valuation, in order to gain quantitative indicators as a kind of attestation of the respondent’s qualitative preferences. The results show relatively great changes in landscape perception in the natural - rural areas. Traditional conservation land-use was considered to be too cultivated, being similar to parks or gardens. On the contrary, some stage of natural succession was appreciated as well as the possibility of a new beginning, or renewal, of the rural landscape.
