Transection of the DC at an upper cervical level dramatically reduced the responses of VPL neurons to ureter distention and to innocuous mechanical stimulation of the skin, but the responses to noxious mechanical stimulation of the skin remained intact. We conclude that both the DC pathway and the STT are likely to contribute to the visceral and somatic responses of some VPL neurons Workplace Institute of Physiology Contact Lucie Trajhanová, lucie.trajhanova@fgu.cas.cz, Tel.: 241 062 400 Year of Publishing 2006
