    This paper deals with the optimisation of conditions for the formation of separable suspnesion and the resultant separation acceleration. It proves that both these objectives are closely inter-related and can be accomplished by the optimisation of the hydrodynamic conditions under which aggregates are formed. The principles of the High Rate Clarification (HRC) technology are also discussed in this paper.
