Description in English The chapter in the book analyses a text recorded in Confundarius maior, a miscellany written by Mattheus Beran in 1431 (today cod. I F 35 of the National Library in Prague). The treatise bears a title Lapidarius Matthaei Beran. The article examines the roots and development of this text in the context of ancient and medieval sources concerning the precious stones and their rich reception in medieval Bohemia.
