AnnotationRare-earth scandate single crystals have become very popular as substrate materials for the epitaxial growth of functional thin films, especially in case of ferroelectric and multiferroic perovskite oxides, such as BiFeO3; EuTiO3; BaTiO3; SrTiO3 or BiMnO3. Hence the elastic constants of the scandates are of high importance for understanding the behavior of the perovskite films and theit further development.
