We investigate the possibility of a two-step approach to EHR mining, in the specific context of analysing the compliance of the healthcare practice with the standards formulated in medical guidelines. The non-compliance patterns detected in the process of guideline-based data pre-processing (1.step) can provide additional variables to enter the actual KDD task, namely association rule mining (2.step). Experiments are under way in order to associate the patterns with other patient data present in the EHR.
