In the search of a suitable mediator for magnetic fluid hyperthermia (MFH) and efficient contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) our group has focused on the nanoparticles of the cobalt-zinc ferrite. Namely the composition of Co0.4Zn0.6Fe2O4+γ has been considered for MFH with respect to its Curie temperature and thus the possibility of the self-controlled heating mechanism in the range of 42 - 45 °C. For MRI the nanoparticles of Co0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4+γ phase have been selected taking into account their high magnetization.
