Such participation is meant to problematise and complement – if not uproot – the modern paradigm of political representation by the delegation of governance to professionals. However, as Bruno Latour strongly argued, political delegation constitutes in modern societies but one leg of a governance machinery. It has to be complemented by expert representation which, alone side the political representation of a society, deals with the nature and our knowing of it. It is this second leg of the expert representation that I reconsider here in relation to the Czech environmental movement and issues.
