This work is focused on detailed numerical analysis of a crack approaching and growing through a material interface between dissimilar materials. A numerical approach facilitating the reliable estimation of stress intensity factor values is suggested and realized. The results provide the details necessary for the analysis of multilayer plastic pipes failures and contribute to more reliable prediction of their residual life time.
