    Two versions of k-e turbulence model (standard and RNG) were tested. According to our previous experience, these two models can lead to qualitatively different flow structure due to different values of turbulent viscosity they provide (standard k-e gave approximately 3x larger turbulent viscosity than the RNG version of the model). We compared simulated horizontal profiles of axial liquid velocity and turbulent kinetic energy in riser and in downcomer with profiles measured by Luo and Al-Dahhan.
