When assesing integrity of engineering structures and components it is automatically assumed that a defect is a sharp crack. However, in many applications shows that the defects found are not actual sharp cracks but can be characterized as a very sharp notches or blunt cracks.
Když posuzujeme integritu konstrukcí a jejich komponentů, automaticky počítáme, pokud detekujeme defekt,že je to ostrá trhlina. Avšak v mnoha případech se ukazuje, že defekty nejsou ostré jako únavové trhliny, ale jsou to ostré vruby nebo tupé trhliny.
