Článek se zaměřuje na filosofickou analýzu manželství s ohledem na jeho hlavní cíle. Nejprve představuje Aristotelovu teorii přátelství jako základní kategorii pro manželský vztah. Poté ukazuje Augustinovo pojetí manželství a to filosofický i teologický pohled. Na závěr ukazuje důsledky pojetí manželství v právu.

The paper is focused on the philosophical analysis of matrimony with respect to its main goals. Firstly, it presents Aristotle’s theory of friendship as the basic ethical category for matrimonial interpersonal relationship. Secondly, it shows some remarks of Augustine on matrimony both from the philosophical and theological points of view. Finally, it deals with several questions of Church law and compares these approaches.
