AnnotationThe Spanish humanist Juan Luis Vives (1492-1540) is author of more than fifty treatises on philosophy, history, law, philology, pedagogy and theology. J. A. Comenius (1592-1670) reassumed many issues introduced therein in a deliberate and creative way. Common link between both thinkers consists in their efforts to reform society and to maintain peace. Their views on the value of peace, on the causes and results of its violation are similar; nevertheless one could hardly presume the direct influence of Vives on Comenius.
