Exonyma jsou již středověkého původu. Studie je zaměřena na souvislosti, v nichž exonyma vznikala a byla užívána, jakým způsobem se v průběhu doby proměňoval geografický horizont, pro nějž se vžila, a konečně i na roli exonym v každodenním užití i v odborné literatuře dnešní doby.

Exonyms are of medieval origin. The study focuses on the context in which exonyms originated and were used, how the geographical horizon of their usage changed over time, and finally on the role of exonyms in contemporary everyday use and in the scholarly literature.
