We draw on the theory of Michel Foucault and Nicolas Rose, arguing that women´s bodies have always been the sites of state intervention through which the bio-politics is carried out. Unlike the intimate citizenship that focuses on the individual level, with too little attention for the state, government and law, the bodily citizenship aims to preserve the rights to bodily integrity, contesting state governance and dominant political discourses about the female body.
