AnnotationThe 10M-modulated martensite of the Ni-Mn-Ga shape memory alloy is able to form twins with high mobility, in particular with twinning stresses as low as 0.2 MPa. A detailed theoretical analysis is carried out to determine the possible morphologies of these highly mobile twins by means of continuum theory of martensitic microstructures, employing the full monoclinic description of the 10M unit cell instead of the commonly used tetragonal approximation.
