Different statins were tested for their effect on experimental pancreatic cancer, on the intracellular Ras protein, and trafficking in Mia- PaCa-2 transfected cells. The in vivo experiments with statins were performed on mice. Substantial tumor-suppressive effects of various statins on the progression of experimental pancreatic adenocarcinoma were demonstrated, with marked differences among individual statins. These results support greatly the potential of statins for the chemoadjuvant treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Různé statiny byly testovány na experimentálním modelu pankreatického nádoru, na účinek na vnitrobuněčný Ras protein a na transport v Mia-PaCa-2 transfekovaných buňkách. In vivo experimenty byly provedeny na myších. Byla zaznamenána značná účinnost statinů na progresi experimentálního pankreatického adenokarcinomu. Jednotlivé statiny však působily rozdílně. Výsledky této studie ukazují, že statiny představují látky s potencí na léčení nádorů pankreatu.
