AnnotationDenaturing capillary electrophoresis provides much faster and more selective separations of DNA fragments than electrophoresis under native conditions. We have developed a highly alkaline electrolyte system with remarkable properties such as extraordinary denaturing power, high separation and low electroosmotic flow mobility in bare fused-silica capillaries. Thus, the analyses of a microsatellite repeat polymorphism in Endothelin 1 gene under denaturing conditions in short capillaries (2.5 cm) with laser-induced fluorescence detection were accomplished in 42 seconds.
