Molecular Biology of the Cell (B. Alberts a kol., 4. vydání, Garland Publishing Inc., New York, 2002. Description in English Study of cyoskeletal protein functions is in the center of cell biology research as these proteins play integrating role in spatial and temporal organization of cell. Basic data about cytoskeletal systems are summarized in major cell biology text-book, e.g. in Molecular Biology of Cell (B. Alberts et al., 4th edition, Garland Publishing, Inc., New York, 2002). In this chapter major characteristics of cytoskeletal proteins are only briefly mentioned as well as their functions. In more detail is described role of cytoskeleton in signal transduction, participation of small GTPases of Rho family and +TIP microtubule proteins in regulation of microfilament and microtubule forms. Present view on formation of lamellipodia, dendritic nucleation model, is presented.
