Čítanka z rané křesťanské literatury obsahuje 34 lekcí. Jejich témata volně korespondují s obecně známými výpověďmi křesťanské věrouky, konkrétně s tzv. Krédem – Apoštolským vyznáním víry. Každá lekce obsahuje dvojici řeckých textů, jež jsou rovnoměrně vybrány jak z Nového zákona, tak z dalších křesťanských textů – ze spisů apoštolských otců a ze spisů apokryfních. Převažují texty narativní, ale zastoupeny jsou také prvky výkladové, spekulativní, parenetické, apokalyptické, liturgické.

The anthology from the Early Christian Literature consists of 34 lections whose topics correspond at large with the common known statements of the Christian faith: the Apostles’ Creed of Faith. Every lesson offers a comparison of two Greek texts, taken from the New Testament on the one hand, as well from other Christian texts (Apostolic Fathers; New Testament Apocrypha) on the other hand. In the texts, beside the narrative genre, there are various elements to be found from the areas of exegesis, speculation, parenesis, apocalyptic, and liturgy.
