Článek pojednává o osudech židovské minority na území Bulharska v letech 1941 až 1944 a zaměřuje se rovněž na jednotlivé interpretační modely fenoménu, známého jako „záchrana bulharských Židů“. Text se pokouší analyzovat jednotlivé verze a varianty kolektivní paměti a jejich socio-politické pozadí, a konfrontovat je tak s interpretacemi současné bulharské i zahraniční historiografie. Článek rovněž poodhaluje mechanismy vzniku a udržování jednotlivých paměťových narativů a to, nakolik byly tyto kulturní konstrukty v průběhu dekád závislé na vládnoucích aparátech moci.

The article is focused on history of Jewish minority in the Bulgarian territory in period between 1941 and 1944. At the same time it focuses on particular interpretation models of a phenomenon called “saving the Bulgarian Jews”. The article deals with particular versions and variants of a collective memory, and tries to confront them with some interpretations of recent both Bulgarian and foreign historiography. It uncovers mechanisms of genesis and maintaining of various memory narratives and how those cultural constructs have been dependent on ruling apparatuses of power during the decades.
