Příspěvek se zabývá konstrukcí Sn - býtfin - od+Sgen, která vyjadřuje účel v češtině a polštině. Ze syntaktického a sémantického hlediska jsou popsány jednotlivé členy konstrukce: význam předložky od podle různých slovníků, tvar a lexikální význam realizace účelu a charakteristika subjektu. Ukázána je také stylová příznakovost užití v češtině a role kontextu v obou jazycích. Materiál pochází z jazykových korpusů textů.

The paper deals with the construction ‘N + to be + od+N’ expressing aim in Czech and Polish. The syntactic and semantic charateristics of the constituents of this construction are presented: the meaning of the preposition od, its descritpion in different dictionaries, the form and lexical meaning of the realization of aim and the characteristics of subject are given. The stylistic marker of the construction in Czech is demonstrated as wel as the role of context in both languaes. Corpora examples are used.
