Článek se zabývá roli Alexandera Dubčeka během Pražského jara a její reflexí v české historické paměti. Zatímco na slovensku je Dubček převážně oslavován jako národní hrdina, Češi jeho historickou roli vnímají více kriticky. Což ovšem nemá žádná nacionální podtext, i Češi vnímají Dubčeka jako postavu vlastních dějin. Článek zkoumá politické a kulturní souvislosti, jež mají vliv na tak chladné a vcelku kritické hodnocení.

This paper focuses on the role of Alexander Dubček during the Prague Spring and its reflection in Czech historical memory. While in Slovakia Dubček is often cherished as a national hero of sorts, Czechs tend to be more critical of his role in politics. Interestingly, this is not due to any inter-national hostility, as Czechs understand Dubček as a figure of their owh history. The paper analyses key political and cultural circumstances that engendered this 'cool', rather critical attitude.
