Profesor Ivan Lutterer (1929–2016) je jedním z předních představitelů české lingvistiky a české onomastické školy. V českých onomastických výzkumech druhé poloviny 20. století neexistuje žádná závažná otázka, do jejíhož řešení by výrazně nezasáhl, a žádný významný směr bádání, který by nebyl ovlivněn jeho pronikavými soudy a úvahami. Zásadně přispěl k rozvoji české, slovanské i mezinárodní onomastiky, zejména podnítil další vývoj principů obecné onomastické teorie a metodologie onomastiky. Tento příspěvek podrobněji analyzuje jeho přínos výzkumu vlastních jmen.

Professor Ivan Lutterer (1929–2016) has been one of the leading representatives of Czech linguistics and of the Czech onomastic school. There are no relevant questions in Czech onomastic research of the second half of the 20th century the solution of which has not been considerably influenced by him. Nor could major onomastic branches have developed fruitfully without his perceptive inferences and considerations. He has substantially contributed to the development of Czech, Slavic and international onomastics, especially by stimulating further development of the principles of the general theory of onomastics and of the methodology of onomastics. This paper analyses his contribution to the research of proper names in greater detail.
