Srovnáváme dvě různé podoby tragédie s maurikiovským námětem, totiž tragédii německého jezuity, teoretika řádového dramatu, Jacoba Masena SJ (1606-1681) a domácí hru teprve devatenáctiletého mladíka Jana Kristiána Aloise Mickla (1711-1767) z r. 1730. Proti sobě tu stojí dvě rozdílné barokní poetiky, na jedné straně stylistika, jež požaduje pro dramatickou tvorbu řeč průzračnou (dictio perspicua) a jasnou (dictio illustris). A na druhé straně Micklovo pojetí inklinující k složitým rétorickým exhibicím a bombastu, značně ovlivněnému dobovým proudem konceptismu, jenž mocně rezonoval v dramatické tvorbě K. Kolčavy na počátku 18. století. Description in English The article looks into the most popular topic of European monastic drama from the 17th century until the 1740ies, i.e., the fall of the early Byzantine emperor Maurice. We compare two types of drama on Mauritian subjects, the tragedy of the German Jesuit and theoretician of monastic drama Jacob Masen S. J. (1606–1681) and the 1730 "domestic play" by the then nineteen year old Jan Christian Alois Mickl (1711–1767). The two authors provide two kinds of Baroque poetics: one the one hand, a style in which drama requires an absolutely transparent (perspicua) and clear (illustris) language, and on the other hand Mickl’s approach which tends toward complex rhetorical and even bombastic expression greatly influenced by the concettismo movement apparent for example in K. Kolčava's dramatic work from the beginning of the 18th century.
