The genus Dickeya cause high number of different plant disease. These pathogens are responsible for economic damage in food plant in different European countries. They belong to the c-Proteobacteria subdivision and are grouped in the family Enterobacteriaceae . Dickeya spp. have the ability to macerate plant tissue by the massive secretion of extracellular pectinolytic enzymes. These bacteria are the causal agents of stem wet rot and blackleg in Potato and they can also cause soft rot during transit and storage. Dickeya spp. are usually detected using PCR or ELISA tests. Our results confirm suitability of suggested analytical procedures for rapid and unambiguous differentiation of Dickeya species based on fingerprints.
