The paper presents Magnetic adaptive testing investigation of surface decarburized layers on samples of common spring steel CSN 41 4260 (54SiCr6 equ. EN), obtained after exposure of the samples to normal air atmosphere during 1, 4, 8, and 20 hours at temperature 8000C. The samples have different shapes, different surface treatment and were measured by different aproaches (coils on rings, rods in solenoids, plates and rods with active measuring yokes and passive double-yokes).
