A local detection of pH was realized using fibre taper probes and opto-chemical transducer. The probes were prepared from tapered silica fibers coated by a thin ITO layer. End-faces of probes were processed by a CO2 laser. Transducer BCECF sensitive in pH range from 5.0 to 7.0 was immobilized onto the end-face of taper tip by TEOS layer. A laser diode (473 nm) was used as an external excitation source of BCECF transducer. Probes were successfully employed for the local detection of pH in the cell solution.
