AnnotationUsing results of detailed research of ecology of Erebia butterflies in the Sudetan Mts., we discuss the fates of relic high mountain species inhabiting small mountain ranges under the ongoing global climate change. We highlight that detailed understanding of individual species habitat requirements, plus knowledge of ecophysiological limit of their distrubution, is crucial for designing conservtion strategies.
