AnnotationTreatment of mice bearing model tumours with HPMA copolymer-doxorubicin conjugates targeted with monoclonal antibodies show a remarkable tumour cell line-specific antitumour activity with complete cure of animals in most cases. The high efficacy of treatment can be ascribed to combination of cytostatic and immunostimulating effect of the conjugates. A similar effect, i.e. complete cure of animals can be achieved by using properly designed HPMA copolymer conjugates with doxorubicin bound to the carrier via hydrolytically unstable pH-sensitive hydrazone group.
