    Analytic solutions are presented for the space charge field when high frequency electric fields are applied to a photorefractive crystal. They are derived on the basis on an approximation, which is the generalisation of the averaging technique by Stepanov and Petrov to the case of on arbitrary wave form of the applied field. A specific approach is applied to step-like waves. Particular attention is paid to the three of them: a square wave, a symmetric pulse, and an asymmetrical pulse.
