The isotopic exchange of 18O2 (IE) differs for individual N oxides: the IE at room temperature proceeds only after the interaction with N2O and corresponds to the single exchange mechanism; no IE was found at room temperature after the interaction with NO or with NO2. The same single-step mechanism operates during the interaction of N2O + 18O2 mixture at 200 oC. The IE also proceeds with the mixtures of NO + 18O2 and NO2 + 18O2 at higher temperatures (200 ů 250 oC), but the multiple-step mechanism fits in better with experimental results. Zeolitic oxygens participate in the IE above 250 oC during temperature programmed desorption of surface species formed by the interactions of all NO oxides with 18O2.
