Coatings from nickel-based alloys are used in numerous high-performance applications.Their properties and lifetime are influence by factors such as residual stress.Neutron diffraction is a power tool for nondestructive residual stress determination. In this study, through-tickness residual stress profiles in Ni+5%Al coatings on steel substrates were determined.
