This paper represents a meeting report for the Fifth International Workshop on Cestode Systematics and Phylogeny held at the Institute of Parasitology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, České Budějovice, 18-22 July 2005. The major topics discussed included (1) the progress in cestode systematics during 2002-2005, (2) the use of the life-cycle data in phylogenetic studies, (3) the utilisation of new morphological and molecular characters in cestode systematics and phylogeny and (4) the ongoing work on the completion of the Global Cestode Database.

Článek shrnuje hlavní výsledky pracovní konference (workshopu) Fifth International Workshop on Cestode Systematics and Phylogeny, který se konal od 18. do 22. července 2005 v Českých Budějovicích. Hlavními diskutovanými okruhy byly: (1) pokrok v systematice tasemnic v letech 2002-2005, (2) využití údajů o životních cyklech ve fylogenetických studiích, (3) použití nových morfologických a molekulárních znaků při studiu systematiky a fylogeneze tasemnic a (4) stávající stav přípravy světové databáze tasemnic (Global Cestode Database).
