The chapter reviews all aspects of chemical vapor generation of transition and noble metals by tetrahydridoborate, as an analogy to traditional volatile hydride generation. It summarises experimental approaches, achieved generation efficiencies and their improvement by reaction modifiers. Mechanisms of fundamental processes, identity of volatile species and future developments of this technique are discussed.
