It then goes on to outline Althusser’s examination of his so-called theoreticist period, his relationship to psychoanalysis, Lacan, Hegel, Spinoza, Machiavelli, the conception of ideological state apparatuses and the relationship of Althusser’s philosophy to the Lacanian Real, Symbolic and Imaginary.
