AnnotationTwo kinds of pulsed lasers in Japan and in Czech Republic were used to irradiate various sample materials to investigate the surface erosion thresholds under very hazardous environments including nuclear fusion chambers. The first was ArF laser in ILT and the second was XUV laser in IPP. These data were combined with our former data for further applications. E.g. a surface erosion monitor was proposed for exact determination of fusion chamber maintenance time, up-conversion phosphor was proposed for measurement of thermal loading of front surfaces of armour structures, and transparent SiC was newly tested for future diagnostic and protection purposes.
