The majority of bright gamma-ray transients that we observe in the sky, are produced by extragalactic gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). However, we know that there are other kinds of sources that can produce intense bursts of high-energy photons within our own Galaxy. GRB 070610/Swift J195509+261406, being just 1 degree away from the Galactic plane, is one of these sources and presents a peculiar behavior, as it shows strong flaring activity that has been observed in the optical and near infrared.

Většina jasných přechodných zdrojů záření gama na obloze jsou produkované extragalaktickými gama výbuchy (GRBs). Víme, že jsou i další druhy zdrojů, které mohou produkovat intenzivní výbuchy pronikavých fotonů uvnitř naší vlastní Galaxie. Zdroj GRB 070610/Swift J195509+261406, ležící jen 1 stupeň daleko od galaktické roviny, je jedním z těchto zdrojů a vykazuje zvláštní chování, jak to ukazuje výjimečná aktivita, která byla pozorovaná v optické a téměř infračervené oblasti. Shromáždili jsme multispektrální pozorování GRB 070610 včetně optických, téměř infračervených, milimetrových a rádiových pozorování.
