A brief critical survey dealing with popular vortex-identification methods is presented. Various applicability limitations of these popular schemes are pointed out and new general requirements on vortex identification are summarized. A new kinematic vortex-identification method based on the proposed triple decomposition of the relative motion near a point is presented.

Je prezentován stručný kritický přehled zabývající se populárními metodami vírové identifikace. Je poukázáno na různá omezení těchto populárních metod a jsou shrnuty nové obecné požadavky na vírovou identifikaci. Je prezentována nová kinematická metoda vírové identifikace, která je založena na trojné dekompozici relativního pohybu v okolí bodu.
