Dieser Beitrag befasst sich mit der Problematik der Quellen für die Untersuchung von Laboratorien und dem Vergleich mit jenen Laboratorien, die Kaiser Rudolf II. während seiner Regierungszeit von 1583 bis 1612 auf der Prager Burg einrichten ließ. Das Ziel ist die Beurteilung, inwieweit die Kombination verschiedener Typen von Quellen die Vorstellung von diesen rudimentären Örtlichkeiten der Experimentalforschung bereichern und präzisieren kann. Es handelt sich um materielle, schriftliche und bildliche Quellen, von denen letztere bisher nur völlig am Rande genutzt wurden.

This article deals with the sources for the study of laboratories and the comparison with those laboratories that Emperor Rudolf II had set up at Prague Castle during his reign from 1583 to 1612. The aim is to assess how the combination of different types of sources can expand knowledge of these rudimentary places of experimental research. These are material, written, and pictorial sources, of which the latter has only been used marginally.
