Description in English An international team of researchers studied the changes in the landscape of Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland using time series of aerial and satellite imagery from the 1950s, 60s, 80s and the present. The team used also archival records on the plant composition of meadows and it was interested in the vegetation of abandoned settlements. Researchers found that the heterogeneity of the landscape decreased and the arable land decreased in favor of forests and grasslands in the study period. Management of the nature conservation, specifically mowing and grazing, preserved rare and endangered plant species in meadows. During the project, several public events took place (exhibitions, conferences), interactive website launched using GIS tools, and the national park administrations continue to draw on the project results for further decisions in the area.
