Solar cells based on organometallic halide perovskite absorber layers have become a topic of intense research for high-performance photovoltaics. Since the first report on perovskite-based solar cells, their efficiency has already increased above 22%. Following this rapid surge, the attention of research is now shifting to increase the understanding how the stability of perovskites and perovskite solar cells can be improved. To tackle such a task improved physical knowledge about this exceptional material is needed.
